College Admissions Message

By: Dr. Cheryl Fruge

Welcome back STM Parents to a new school year. I have many activities planned for the college application process. Please note that it is never too early to learn about the college admissions process due to GPA and ACT requirements. Also, if your student is interested in a private college or more selective college, it is important to understand this process from the beginning of their high school career.  Please visit the College Counseling page frequently.  I look forward to working with your student this year.

College 101

STM is hosting College 101 on Wednesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. in the STM mall.  Admissions representatives from UL Lafayette,  LSU and South La. Community College will offer informational sessions on admission requirements, housing, and scholarships.  A representative from the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance will offer sessions on TOPS requirements. An admissions counselor from Tulane University will discuss applying to selective colleges and universities as well as provide information on Tulane admissions and scholarships.

These sessions are open to 9th - 12th grade students and parents. Click here on the College 101 link for more information and be sure to RSVP today!

College Planning by Grade Level

Please visit the College Counseling page to learn important grade level information.

CANstruction

STM is continuing its school wide service project to the poor and vulnerable through CANstruction. Each homeroom participates by building a structure out of canned goods. We need your help to make this year even bigger and better than last year. With a theme Hunger is No Game, our goal is to collect 13,000 cans.  St. Joseph Diner is in dire need of food to stock it's pantry. Prizes will be awarded for most number of cans, best use of labels, tallest structure, most creative, best overall, best use of special effects and fan favorite. Judging takes place on Friday, September 22, so keep those cans rolling in!!
