National Merit Scholars Announced

The National Merit Scholarship program announced Jacob Breaux, Austin Daigle, Logan Daigle, Seth Fontenot and David Vizzi as semifinalists and Joseph Benton and Kyle Spicer as commended scholars. About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the program by taking the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship qualifying test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. Congratulations to these outstanding students and best of luck to our semifinalists as they continue to compete for scholarships.

Class of 2017 Achieves 24.3 Composite Score on ACT Exam

St. Thomas More is proud to announce that our most recent graduating class earned the highest average score on the ACT college entrance exam in the school's history. The ACT is the leading US college admissions test, measuring what students learn in high school to determine their academic readiness for college. The Class of 2017 achieved an average composite score of 24.3, almost five points higher than the state average for Louisiana. 211 of the 238 students scored higher than the state average, while 201 of those scored at or above the national average. Our students' scores showed an increase in all tested areas which include: English, reading, math, and science. Our faculty is doing a fantastic job of preparing our students to be college and career ready. Congratulations students AND faculty on this great accomplishment!
