St. Thomas More Campus Ministry is focused on putting our Catholic faith into action by not only serving our school, but also the Lafayette community. Our campus ministers are actively giving back to the Lafayette community in many ways. During service training, each campus minister serves at St. Joseph's Diner during the summer and continues to serve the diner in various ways throughout the school year. Our eucharistic ministers volunteer to serve Eucharist to the sick at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and do so on a weekly basis. The students also participate in the Young at Heart program with Junior League of Lafayette where they visit a local nursing home monthly and participate in making arts and crafts with the residents. In addition to our continuous service projects, Campus Ministry takes on several large service events a year. Every Christmas, Campus Ministry leads all the homeroom classrooms in Adopt A Family which is a Catholic Services program that provides families in need with Christmas gifts and necessities during the holidays. Every Spring, the Junior class puts on a festival called HopeFest that raises funds for a charity of their choice and the St. Thomas More Options program. Additionally, every Spring St. Thomas More students travel to Costa Rica to serve the less fortunate and gain an awareness of the needs of others around the world. As you can see, the St. Thomas More Campus Ministry department is blessed to have so many students who are willing and dedicated to being "God's servant first."
Service Projects/Community Service
Service projects and community service are coordinated by Cornerstones, and our primary service will be Adopt-a-Family. We also take monthly trips to various nursing homes in Lafayette.
Each year at Christmas time, our homeroom classes adopt underprivileged families through the Msgr. Sigur Center. We provide basic necessities as well as Christmas presents for each family member.
