St. Thomas More is excited to welcome 11 new faculty members and 2 substitute teachers.
Prior to joining the STM family, Alison Deville served as an English teacher and head softball coach in her hometown of Port Barre, Louisiana. Alison spent five years at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and received a bachelor’s degree in English, with a minor in Psychology. While obtaining her degree, Alison served on the Ragin’ Cajuns softball team as a left-handed pitcher, helping lead the program to five Sunbelt Conference championships, five NCAA women’s college World Series tournament runs, five NCAA regionals, and two NCAA super regionals. During her tenure, she managed to earn her way onto the NCAA All-American scholar list. Alison will be serving in the English department, as well as assisting the softball and volleyball team at St. Thomas More.
Cass J. Hargis joins STM as a Civics and World Geography teacher. Hargis graduated from Holy Cross School in New Orleans and played baseball for Southeastern Louisiana University from 2007 - 2011. Prior to joining STM, he coached baseball at St. Thomas Aquinas, Southeastern, Holy Cross and McNeese. Coach Hargis is assisting in baseball and football.
Sydni Haydell is a proud 2015 St. Thomas More alumna who is rejoining the cougar family as a math teacher. Sydni studied Secondary Mathematics Education at both Louisiana State University and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She graduated from ULL in May of 2020.
Oakley Montgomery is a 2015 STM graduate and joins the St. Thomas More English department. Oakley received a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences with a degree in English from Louisiana State University. She is currently working on her Master's degree in English at University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Ben Mouton is a 2015 STM graduate and joins the St. Thomas More family after receiving his B.A. in Political Science and B.A. in French from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. In addition to teaching French I and Academic Support testing, Ben is pursuing a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Brenna Murphree joins the St. Thomas More faculty after working as Campus Minister at Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church & Student Center. While working at Wisdom, Mrs. Murphree earned her Master of Arts in Theology from the Augustine Institute. Prior to moving to Southern Louisiana in 2015, Mrs. Murphree graduated from The University of New Mexico in 2014 with a B.A. in Sociology. She graduated from Los Alamos High School in 2010. She is married to Ross Murphree, STM alum, Class of 2006.
Sarah Owens, a native of New Iberia, LA, is an Artist and Art Educator. She recently graduated from UL with the Spring Class of 2020, go Ragin Cajuns! Some of her favorite things are fishing, crawfish, antiques, coffee, old movies, pottery, and 40s-50s swing. Sarah also enjoys time with family, being with friends, and traveling with her dog, Clara Bella. She is very excited to begin teaching and working alongside the STM family. Sarah teaches Art I & II (H).
Brooke Richard joins our PE department teaching Girls P.E. I & II. She graduated from McNeese University in 2017 and obtained her masters in sports management at the University of East London. Brooke played basketball for two years at LSU Eunice and won the 2013-2014 conference championship. She went on to play at LSU Alexandria for one season and then played her senior year at West Virginia Wesleyan. Brooke joins us after working as an assistant coach at LSU Eunice.
Damian Smith joins the St. Thomas More science department with an Engineering and Project Management background. He is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2015 with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. Damien graduated from Rayne High School in 2006. Mr. Smith and his wife, Nichole, are residents of Youngsville.
Samantha Wolfe Stelly is a 2013 STM graduate and joins our faculty as a physical science and chemistry teacher. She graduated from UL in 2018 and has been teaching science for two years. She enjoys cooking all things Cajun, playing beach volleyball, and fishing in Toledo Bend. Samantha is honored to teach alongside the faculty and staff that molded her into who she is today and is excited to be a cougar again!
Adam White joins the STM family as a World History and US History teacher. Prior to joining STM, Coach White taught at Live Oak High School and St. Michael the Archangel High School in Baton Rouge. Coach White graduated from Catholic High of Baton Rouge in 2011 and played football at LSU for two seasons before retiring with an injury. He graduated from LSU in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration and from Northwestern State University in 2018 with a Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary Education). Coach White is a defensive end football coach and track and field coach (shot put and discus).
Rebecca Artall is a 2016 STM graduate and joins our faculty as a technology assistant and substitute teacher. Rebecca recently graduated from Rice University with a double major in Cognitive Sciences and Psychology.
Leah Lagrange is a 2009 STM graduate and will join our faculty as a substitute teacher in September. Leah graduated from UL in 2013 and has been in Los Angeles for the past 6 years working as a professional dancer and choreographer.
