The STM Options Program provides an opportunity for students with disabilities to enjoy their high school years on a campus with loving and accepting peers while meeting their individualized academic needs, as well as encouraging socially appropriate behavior and necessary life skills, in order to prepare our students for the transition from high school to adult life while striving to meet each student’s greatest potential.

Program Design

The students in the Options Program experience an academically rich curriculum while also participating in life-skills and job-training. The addition of the PAES Lab has given our students the opportunity to have a daily class set aside for job training, covering many different job experiences. In 2017 our Options Program moved into their brand new facility, allowing them to expand their life skills opportunities to include washing and drying of clothes, proper use of a dishwasher, stove, and oven, as well as the necessary space for optimal learning. Student mentors include and encourage our students throughout the day and during extra-curricular activities to join and participate in activities and social gatherings. Options students attend a typical daily Religion class with their peers and a daily PE class organized and run by a group of mentors. Students wishing to enter the program should possess appropriate social skills and behavior patterns in order to ensure their educational success. Each student’s academic achievement is individual and; therefore, paced accordingly.
