The More Program

The MORE Program is modeled after St. Benedict at Auburndale’s PLUS Program, serving students with diagnosed learning differences in preparation for college. The program is comprised of a college preparatory course of study requiring the student’s attendance, academic diligence, and parental support.

The Goals

  • Learn new study techniques
  • Instill strong self-esteem
  • Prepare students to pursue college degrees

 

The Philosophy

The MORE Program is intended to enhance students’ strengths while instilling self-confidence. Through a strong college preparatory curriculum, students will acquire the knowledge needed for success at the next educational level.

Students enrolled in the MORE Program take MORE classes in core curricular areas and explore other areas of interest in traditional college preparatory, honors and STEM related courses. The small class size, combined with robust technology, provides students with modern educational tools that enhance the learning environment.

To ensure success, schedules will be reviewed yearly and tailored to meet individual student needs.

The Admissions Process

In order to be considered for admission to the MORE Program, the online application must be completed, and the following documentation submitted for review:

  • Psycho-Educational evaluation that is no more than three years old from the list of approved providers.

  • Current school records

  • The last 3 years of standardized test scores


All applicants will interview with the MORE Program Director, with input from their current grade-level counselor, to determine eligibility. Students in the MORE Program follow and must pass the TOPS University curriculum mandated by the State of Louisiana in order to receive a St. Thomas More Catholic High School diploma. No IEP is written, however, a profile is developed from the psychological testing that consists of the student’s strengths, weaknesses, accommodations and learning differences.
