Requirements to Tryout

  • Must have a 2.0 GPA (bring a copy of your most recent report card)
  • Must be in good standing with school presently attending
  • Must be registered at STM for the 2024 - 2025 school year.

What to Wear

  • Sparklers and Cougar Dance:
    • Day 1:  Tank (no stomach showing) and leggings/spandex with appropriate dance shoes and hair pulled back
    • Day 2:  (tryouts) Dancers should be in a solid black tank and sold black spandex with hair pulled out of face
  • Cheerleaders: 
    • Day 1, 3, and 4 : Racerback tank (no stomach showing), with appropriate length athletic shorts. Hair should be neatly pulled back in a pony tail, athletic tennis shoes should be worn and absolutely no jewelry. 
    • Day 2: (tryouts with coaches, moderators, and outside judges) Cheerleaders should be dressed in full black - all of the above requirements apply. • Hair must be pulled back out of face. No ribbons or bows may be worn in hair for tryouts.

Dance Team Criteria

  • Individual placement for Sparkler and Cougar Dance teams is determined according to a point break system. Detailed information concerning team placement will be given on first day of tryouts.
  • Both teams consist of 9th-12th grade dancers.
