Counseling TidBits

Lent is a time for spiritual growth and renewal. During this time of reflection, we can also set aside time to examine our mindfulness and emotional regulation. According to "The Power of Mindfulness" from the Child Mind Institute, mindfulness "helps to manage anxiety... as well as stress-reduction and self-regulation." Message for Seniors Receiving Scholarships

Please turn in COPIES of ALL scholarship offers (even those your student is not accepting) to Dr. Frugé by May 1. Please do NOT email but rather drop them off. Dr. Frugé has been emailing scholarships directly to your student's STM email. This information is published in the Graduation program.

• Tuesday, Mar. 19, representatives from U.S. Military Academy West Point will visit during 6th period. Students must sign up in Counseling.
• Thursday, Mar. 21, 2nd period (after Mass) representatives from the Construction Management program at UL Monroe 
• STM will attend Engineering and Technology Expo Day at UL Lafayette on Wednesday, March 27. Permission slips are in Counseling and the deadline to return forms is Thursday, March 21. Space is limited to juniors and seniors. Students are NOT signed up until they return their permission slip.
• Monday, March 25, 5 - 7 pm SLCC preview day, 1101 Bertrand Dr. All are welcome.
• Friday, March 29, 4th period, a representative from LSU Eunice will be here to discuss their programs and transfer courses. 
• Wednesday, April 3, 6pm - College 101 students and/or parents must RSVP for this event. Click here to learn more and register. 

College 101

STM is hosting College 101 on Wednesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. in the STM mall.  Admissions representatives from UL Lafayette, LSU, and South LA Community College will offer informational sessions.  A representative from the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance will offer sessions on TOPS requirements. Dr. Fruge will offer a session on applying to selective and out-of-state colleges.

These sessions are open to 9th - 12th grade students and parents. Click here for more information and be sure to RSVP today!

Accepting Nominations for Advisory Council

St. Thomas More is blessed with community leaders and parents who give generously of there time and talents in support of our school.  If you or someone you know wants to support STM by serving on the Advisory Council, please submit your nomination today. All members serve a three (3) year term and elected positions must have a child attending STM during their term.  Please note that two (2) elected council seats will become available for the 2019 – 2020 school year.

Time to update your FACTS information/ Peace of Mind Benefit election

All STM FACTS customer accounts have been rolled over into the 2019-2020 term. Please log into your STM FACTS account for the 2019-2020 term and review the account information for address, phone, and email changes.

 

If you want to change your selection for the FACTS Peace of Mind benefit this must be done by Wednesday, March 20. FACTS offers a 'Peach of Mind Benefit" that will pay off the customer's current year payment plan balance upon the death of the plan owner or their legal spouse. The maximum benefit is $30,000. Changes to the Peace of Mind benefit election must be selected before the account is finalized for the school term and the cost is $20 per year. The fee is collected with the FACTS enrollment fee once the payment plan is finalized. The benefit selection from the 2018-19 term is automatically rolled over to the 2019-20 term.
