4‑H empowers young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime. It’s a research-based experience that includes a mentor, a hands-on project, and a meaningful leadership opportunity.

Based on their interests and guided by adult mentors, youth develop their own pathway in 4‑H. They select from a broad menu of local 4‑H programs. Local programs include opportunities in Leadership, Community Development, Livestock Projects and Shooting Sports.

4-H Program

A world in which youth and adults learn, grow and work together as catalysts for positive change.

• With 611,800 volunteers, 3,500 professionals, and more than 25 million alumni, the 4-H movement supports young people from elementary school through high school with programs designed to shape future leaders and innovators.
• Fueled by research-driven programming, 4-H'ers engage in hands-on learning activities in the areas of science, citizenship and healthy living.

Meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at 7 a.m. in room 502.

MISSION

The St. Thomas More Catholic High School Student Ambassadors are a select group of students whose main purpose is to provide outreach activities within the school and community. Ambassadors take pride in making new students feel welcome and comfortable while transitioning into the STM family.

PURPOSE

The Ambassador Program is open to qualified sophomores, juniors, and seniors who possess leadership abilities, and exhibit enthusiasm for being a Cougar. The Ambassador Program is not only a tool for student recruitment and retainment, but it is also a vehicle for promoting individual leadership skills. Ambassadors have the opportunity for self-growth through serving others and embracing the qualities of a true leader .

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

1. Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior.
2. Maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
3. Must partake in a minimum of 2 events during the school year.
4. If a student does not meet any of these requirements, he/se will not be eligible to be an Ambassador the following school year.

Tablet Training, Freshman Orientation, Grandparent's Mass, Open House, Welcome letters to incoming Freshmen, Greeters at special masses, 7th grade feeder school visits.

Art Club Executive Officers

The Executive Board of the Art Club oversees all Art Club activities and projects. For each activity, two or more members are selected to manage the entire project by designating specific jobs, supplying materials, and assuring that the entire project is done promptly and well. A student does not have to be enrolled in an art class for membership in the Art Club.

The Beta Club at St. Thomas More was established in the 1989-1990 school year. The club was instituted in order to promote and reward academic achievement and servant leadership.

Mission Statement

The purpose of the National Beta Club shall be to promote the ideals of character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students, to reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.

Vision Statement

The National Beta Club, a student-centered organization, continually develops and nurtures individuals by providing opportunities and experiences enabling them to demonstrate the ideals of character, achievement, service and leadership in a global community.

Membership

Our club is open to all students grades 9-12 who have maintained a 3.2 grade point average for the previous school year. If your GPA falls below a 3.2 you will be placed on probation. As a member of Beta, students are required to complete service hours. Each student must complete a total of twenty service hours for the academic year. Fifteen (15) hours must be Beta Club hours (those that we set up through our community service projects) and five (5) hours may be transferred from other clubs or organizations.

Board Game Club "So Board" is open to new members throughout the year. We play a variety of board games and card games in a casual atmosphere aimed at relaxing and socializing. Sessions are played on Fridays after school.

We, the members of Cougars for Life, believe in the education of students on the issues of abortion, euthanasia, and capital punishment, as well as recognizing every form of human life as precious and valuable. We strive to acknowledge and uphold the dignity of human life by our outreach and service to the public for the greater cause. As a community we will embrace the life God has given us and share the light with the STM community and all who cross our path. Mission

To present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the Church.

FCA Camps

Every summer, thousands of coaches and athletes participate in FCA's summer camps. These camps challenge the student-athlete and coach to excel. If interested in camp participation, please check details with Coach Strojny.

FCA Structure

The leadership team consists of 10-12 members. The members are interviewed through the Campus Ministry program. There are four positions that are made up of captain, co-captain, recruiter, and secretary. The leadership team meets regularly to plan the FCA huddles that are held the last Friday of the month at 7 a.m. There are also guest speakers that are scheduled once a quarter for a faith testimony that is held over breakfast. The meetings are open to all students, faculty and staff.

STM Fishing is a student centered group focused on promoting a love for the outdoors and improving fishing skills. Each member is enrolled in BASS and the Bass Federation and is eligible to fish competitively in both of their tournament circuits in Louisiana and national events. Monthly meetings feature guest speakers covering aspects of the fishing world.

Mission - to educate and encourage young anglers to enjoy the outdoors, protect our natural resources, practice sportsmanship and learn about ethical practices in the sport of fishing.

Membership in French Club is open to students enrolled in French I and above and to previous students of French who may not be presently enrolled in class. Our general meeting are once a month on Wednesdays.

Purpose

• To promote and encourage the study of French
• To install an appreciation for the French language and the francophone cultures
• To give the members an opportunity to socialize with French speakers from the community

Reasons to Join

• Meet people from our French speaking community
• Field trips to French restaurants, movies, exhibitions, and performances
• Have fun socializing with peers in French atmosphere
• To promote French language in our school and community
• Provide service to the French-speaking community

The Spanish Club is comprised of any students interested in learning about the Spanish language and culture, no matter what language they have formally studied in school. We sponsor activities that promote understanding and goodwill among different ethnic groups and enhance creativity in diversity. The club sponsors school-wide activities to provide authentic Hispanic cultural experiences and disseminate the traditions and customs of the Spanish-speaking community.

Meeting dates are the last Wednesday of every month.

The Speech and Drama Club extends its membership to any current student who is interested in competitive speaking. The members attend approximately 24 speech tournaments throughout the year. This organization also hosts its own tournament and presents a large-scale theatrical production during the spring semester. STM has an active and nationally recognized speech and debate program.

Meetings are every Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. in room 805.
